My therapy dog crew is there along with a lot of public safety & first responders. Our goal is to teach your kids how to be safe in any type of emergency. It’s a great learning event for all ages.

Yesterday I was privileged to attend the Tulsa County Sheriff’s Office’s annual memorial for deputies who were killed in the line of duty. It is always a very respectful and solemn ceremony. I hope we never take for granted the sacrifices made on our behalf by our public servants - and their families.

At my staff meeting on Friday we hosted Brenna Peterson from Reading Partners of Tulsa. This organization coordinates volunteers who wish to spend an hour (or more) each week helping 1st through 3rd graders learn how to read.

He provided an overview of the criminal justice system along with his observations regarding criminal justice reform. I was particularly impressed by his comments that criminal justice reform should not ignore the impact that crime has on victims, as they are a very necessary part of the conversation.
