Owasso Triple Homicide
Steve and Assistant DA Mickey Hawkins secured the death penalty in a murder trial for  Clarence Goode in a 2005 home invasion. Ten-year-old Kayla Burchett, her mother Tara Burchett and Tara’s husband Mitch Thompson were shot to death. Co-defendant Kenneth Johnson received three consecutive sentences of Life without Parole.

When my sister and her daughter and husband were murdered, Steve Kunzweiler was there for my family every step of the way. I am so thankful we had a skilled prosecutor and a compassionate advocate for our lost loved ones. He worked hard to see their killers were taken off the street and put in prison so they could not destroy another family like ours. It has been 11 years and I still miss them terribly. Steve keeps in touch and has never forgotten Kayla & Tara or our family. He is a great DA.
